Williams Oil Co. operates a chain of some 400 gas stations/convenience stores, quick-serve restaurants, and travel centers through WILCOHESS, a joint venture partnership with Hess Corporation (formerly Amerada Hess). The joint venture has convenience stores and restaurants in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The year 2004 saw WILCOHESS acquire, remodel, and rebrand about 50 SERVCO stores in North Carolina from Service Distributing Co., and in June 2005, WILCOHESS gained another hundred locations when it merged with Trade Oil Company. Arthur T. Williams Sr. founded the company in 1963.
