If "You Are Marshall," you know Marshall University (MU) is a state supported institution serving about 14,000 students (including 4,000 graduate and medical students) through more than a dozen colleges and schools. MU offers about 20 associate, some 40 baccalaureate, and another 45 graduate programs. Students attend classes either at the main campus in Huntington, West Virginia; at the South Charleston campus; or online. MU also has a school of medicine located near the main campus. Named for former Chief Justice John Marshall, MU was established in 1837. The 2006 movie, "We Are Marshall," dramatizes the aftermath of the 1970 plane crash that killed most of MU's Thundering Herd football team.
